giskardsb 12,565
<drunkpost> Just had an interesting discussion at a bar with patrons that would not be stereotypical Gaga fans (straight people drinking at an Irish Pub).... the end result being that we all agreed that Gaga is a singular talent and ridiculous performer. The point being, the "GP" often recognizes that Gaga is something special even as the fan base argues about particulars. We argue about LG5 timing, content, her "side projects", etc, and sometimes lose sight of the reality. What we have here is an artist dedicated to her artistic visions. willing to take risks and not play safe; someone not content with just cashing in the big paychecks and raking in the money doing the status quo. Somebody who won't continuously perform the same role simply to make money. She's not perfect, far from it Like all of us. She'll make mistakes. But she is willing to try, and fail. She dreams bigger than most of us and is willing to take risks. While she could have taken the safe path and stayed at Tisch as her parents would have wished, she took the leap and believed in her talents to slog it out on the LES NY. She could have replicated TF ad naseum, but instead chose to use her voice for humanitarian causes. Quit worrying about sales, or "slay-age", or chart positions and metacritic scores. If you have to rely on those things to judge Gaga as an artist, then you are judging on the wrong basis. Yes, you can either dislike or like her work. But respect her as an independent artist anyway, even if you don't like her work. If you can't defend Gaga because she is an independent thinker, then you might want to rethink why you support her at all. </drunkpost (too many St. Arnolds beers. )>

Lord Temptation 11,209
This is true but it makes me sad. To know that we gays once had Gaga all to ourselves. She was our Mother and we were her Monsters. Our bond used to be unbreakable. She represented us when we had no voice. Then what did we do when we were given a voice? We attacked our Mother. We hurt her. We called her bitch. Lazy. Unoriginal. A hypocrite. Fake. Over. We bit the paw that fed us. Now? Now she is the Queen of the Straights. She is no longer just ours. We had our chance but we blew it. She belongs to everyone now. We always seem to destroy the only community that accepts us. You never know what you've got till it's gone.
