How dare you mock the woman who made a perfect pop album that is Emotion

Mock? Please. I'm just after reading an article which wondered why it was a commercial failure. Easy, she released 7 singles of a 12 track record and released the album early in Japan after it leaked online. It made waaaaay less than ARTPOP. So no, it's hardly a perfect album.

The writer of the article is a huge fan of Carly, so also wondered why a 30 year old woman is still dancing/acting/singing/behaving in music videos like a teenager to teenagery music. Also easy. Some of the best songwriters and producers worked on that album, people who have written for Adele, The Weeknd etc. Some people may applaude and say yaaaaay Carly. Me? Not so much. It's not a mockery to call it bubblegum pop when it is exactly that; deliberately and methodically so. The music, the videos, the lyrics, it's all designed to appeal to young millennials, you know, the record parents are sick of having to play for their kids in the car?

I don't deny it was a critical success. It was as critically acclaimed as 1989, which coincidentally, happens to be also written and designed for kids and teenagers.

I don't deny that it was successful. Just don't be afraid to ask yourself why.

Everyone jumps on the Gaga is reductive bandwagon yet not a peep about Madonna directly sampling ABBA on Hung Up :tea:
