It's not a big deal anyway, the sinful woman washing Jesus' feet part is still in there which validates what she's saying, but it is simply impossible that's Mary Magdalene and, ironically, she would know that if she read the Bible closely, while she's apparently relying on popular legend.

i'm not defending the interpretation. that's not the point. i'm defending gagz because you and the other member said that she's uninformed/misinformed, aka wrong. so i basically asked the question: according to what or who? history or historians? and then i pointed out that history is not written in stone.

It's to be expected, and I don't really care that much, but insinuations that the people of both groups are on equal levels and that one should expect it from the other before asking for it are pretty misguided to me. Religious people, especially Christians, have held social and literal power over a third of the human population and have spent most all of history chastising, dehumanizing, murdering, and enslaving non religious people (along with a bunch of other groups people with "non favorable" traits). It sounds like much more of a threat in this light   Maybe I'm over thinking it though

Don't take it too personally. Many of us have been personally affected by religious bigotry (or rather, bigotry "justified" with religion, namely Christianity). It's hard to have compassion towards someone who holds the same belief system as someone who insults us, condemns us to Hell, or literally attacks us  but not impossible.

You're right though. In the end, it's the teachings of Christ that Christians are supposed to follow. Just because some of them put their own personal prejudice in the spotlight, twisting the words of their god to fit that bigotry, doesn't mean all Christians should be judged  never feel like you need to justify your beliefs to those that won't listen. You seem like a wonderful person so don't worry about some of the more misguided comments here, friend

Well, according to the Bible for one The Bible does not link the sinful woman with Mary Magdalene at all. In fact, Mary M. has a completely separate and beautiful role in the Gospels.

But I guess you're right in essence, she could've picked that up in church or from artworks or just through popular legend. Which isn't wrong, I didn't say it was wrong btw, I'm just a bit surprised (in a bad way) she doesn't know this. I'm not saying that invalidates her belief or her interpretation, but from someone who posts about the Bible specifically this much, I'm kind of bummed out her interpretation actually relies on very traditional, and even misogynistic historical developments.

But that's just my own irrelevant opinion I don't care, really, like I said, the essence of her post is still kept intact by the sinful woman thing, but it's just not Mary Magdalene and I don't get why anyone would hold on to that interpretation when it is literally found nowhere until the Middle Ages, and a close study of the source materials reveals that it is impossible that the sinful woman passage was written as if it was Mary M. I'd hope they'd review their opinion, because like I said, it only makes the actual Mary M. figure in the Gospels that much more powerful.

I wish everyone was like you. I mean, it's a really ****ed up world. We can't keep complaining about it and then spread negativity hatred and 'bullism' in every context. People fight for food, for religion, FOR POPSTARS. Why should we fight about these topics in a forum dedicated to an artist that promotes online kindness and equality and who believes in God?

I didn't take it as a personal attack, but it enraged me reading that people who got bullied have this attitude. Discuss about heels and mind your own business.
