I agree with all your points. I think many athiest fans just prefer for her to be anti-Christian/Catholic because it coincides with their own beliefs. It doesn't change the fact that she's always been Catholic and had at least some faith. Also, totally agree with Judas. She said she prayed when writing the lyrics. Jesus forgave Judas despite what he had done, just as Gaga forgave him for betraying her. 100% Christian lyrics and it always annoyed me how people tried to twist it to be bad. Battle 4 Ur Life 6,716
YAS. she slayed them with class and true biblical insight and knowledge. she sounds like a true believer. someone God is proud of (of course). what she's talking about is that God goes beyond religion's pre-established standards and typical judgement. A LOT of you missed her whole point for the sake of trying so goddamn hard on this forum. she's not being religiousGa or wtv...it's a lot more complex than that...it's about society...but wtv...lol I see so many sad ignorant responses in this thread that it almost makes me feel bad for Gags to have some of you as her fans. “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
Frankenztein 1,172
I dislike religion, but that is my personal feeling. Gaga is religious, and that is her personal feeling. Guess what? We are both allowed to believe or not believe freely. I'm not on board with Christianity but Gaga's religion is her own choice.

KARMA 1,022
I never really understand why some people need to defend their own religion. They believed that god is the most superior, then why would they need to defend god and their religion? *a bit off topic but its surely a great question to start with*

Isn't it weird that two Gospels refer to this? Would it be possible that two different women did that? Probably but I don't think so, if it was that common nobody would have been surprised when Mary of B did it. Why could this not be the same scene but told by two different apostle ? Again, then why are the earlier written two Gospels in agreement that the woman didn't wash his feet but poured the perfume over his head? You take these differences for granted as if they're not worthy of being mentioned. It's not weird that two Gospels refer to it, because John borrowed from the other Gospels. Besides, John differs a lot in terms of detail even with Luke, since he doesn't speak of a sinful woman at all. It's just Mary B. and there is no mention of sins being forgiven whatsoever. So in truth we only have one Gospel telling the story of a sinful woman washing Jesus' feet, and from all the narratives it's extremely unlikely that the woman presented is one of Jesus' disciples (in that case, obviously the apostles would've known her and Jesus would've addressed her differently since she was a fellow traveller), which Mary M. undoubtedly was. I can't help but find it a bit amusing that you seem to conclude very quickly that the descriptions of the Gospels are of actual historical fact It's not at all necessary to assume two women washed Jesus' feet, it's not even necessary to assume one did. It's a lot easier to assume that in oral traditions of the time the same story with different details was spread and preserved in writings that reflect the local character the story took on. Hence the differences in each of the Gospels. It's surely possible that some events may have happened in some form, but when you're talking about parables and symbolic passages the chance is very unlikely. And that's the problem I have with Gospel readers like you who piece things together and then ignore 99% of the rest of the stories and skip past some very obvious questions: if it was the same woman, then why didn't Mark/Matthew/Luke identify her as such? Why did they have to come up with a Mary from a different region at all? You haven't answered that question and that's because there is no answer to it. They believed that god is the most superior, then why would they need to defend god and their religion? *a bit off topic but its surely a great question to start with* You ever hear people say they don't have a religion, they have a "relationship with God"? That's part of the reason it's such an integral part of who they are. Their core beliefs that they live their life by. They have no choice but to defend it when someone "attacks" it, whether that attack is an actual attack (which is stupid) or a critical question (which is ok if done respectfully). To put it in terms that might be easier to understand (assuming you're gay ), it's kind of the same feeling you'd get if someone said "So, why are you gay?" You feel a bit defensive, maybe a little insulted, but you explain that you just are. Then if they were to keep pushing, "No, you're not 'just gay', something or someone had to make you that way. What was it?" Then it literally turns into anger. I had someone tell me "you must be gay because your dad raped you or something or your mom wasn't around" and I have never wanted to lay someone out more than I did then In the end, it's really best to just let people have their beliefs and instead fight against those that try to push those beliefs on others, especially when it's done to justify hateful laws or actions.
