They just never released in HD because YouTube and VEVO didn't have widescreen features back then. I know this because I have seen several snippets of the HD videos on TV shows (and they are in widescreen) and when I view them on my big television, they have perfect quality. They do exist. I mean even my crappy Sony that I got in the Poker Face era shoots in HD. You are saying that they used something less than a hand held camera to shoot all those music videos? Yours shot digitally and wasn't deemed broadcast quality by any stretch of the imagination. The ones used for the videos like Pokerface were industry standard and shot on cheap standard definition film. There's a lot more than just HD and SD that separates a camera, otherwise filmmakers and moviestudios wouldn't buy cameras that are thousands of pounds, and films like The Avengers would instead be shot on your crappy 'HD' video phone instead. The reason we don't have them in a very good quality is because Youtube went HD after all of those videos. For example, Ojos AsÃ, a music video of Shakira, was shot in 1998 and untill a few months ago, we thought there will not be a widescreen version.
