"well-meaning white people" is racist? She's HUMANIZING the people who get condemned for doing their job. She's NOT saying that what they are doing is right. She is saying that THEY believe they are doing what is right. They are not EVIL people.

Why would you not excuse them? Racists aren't necessarily evil people. My grandma's a ****ing racist. Racism is born out of ignorance not evil. They mean well, even when their actions are not acceptable.

The point is to educate them. That's what Hillary was trying to do. She's not shutting out the people in question.

100,000 families! crossed into the US without proper documentation, and now many of them are facing deportations after they THOUGHT they got to stay here. In all brutal honesty, it is better to turn them away at the gate, than to turn them away after they have been here for roughly 2 years- with the assumption that they were gonna start a new life here. 

 

Ok, that makes more sense. I had not actually read her statement before. 

In the Univision debate they made her PROMISE to not deport children which is why I initially thought she was advocating deporting them with no mercy. However seeing the consequences of not deporting them does make her rationale more reasonable.
