I agree. I'm not sure if I necessarily agree with the current formula, but I don't exactly have a better suggestion either. The bottom line is streaming is the way most people are consuming music now and it seems stupid to try and ignore that.

I think the only reason it seems so strange now is because over the past few years when album sales have been dismal, 2x platinum seemed like an almost impossible feat for most artists. It doesn't mean that Anti is more successful than an album like ARTPOP, it's just that AP - and Rihanna's other albums - didn't get to benefit from these new rules.

I mean, let's not forget that Bad Romance is now certified diamond when it definitely hasn't sold 10m copies lol. I don't see this as "fraudulent" or whatever. Everyone knows how much Anti really sold, so what's the big deal? Every other album will be certified under these same rules.

Yes, I agree that streaming is the future but the SEA calculation needs to be changed. Huge consumption of a single song does not imply consumption of an entire album. It's like saying that singles sales should have been included in album certifications during the pre-streaming era.

Just wanted to point out my frustration was about lack of updates on Gaga's team's part. I know streaming is the future, but it just doesn't seem right to me that the equivalent of hard album sales is matched so easily these days.

They are. The record companies can now certify albums based on single sales. ARTPOP BTW and all those albums can be updated if the Recod company wishes to do so.so blame Interscope for not recertifying her albums. Ariana's albums back to 2013 were recertified.

Now I hope at least three of LG5's singles go #1 and maintain it for at least 10 weeks. More top hits = more exposure. More exposure = more chances people will buy her album AND also more streams, both of which would help her sales by a mile.

I am not saying Gaga should aim only for #1's. But for anyone to deny she doesn't need at least one #1 hit is being delusional. Her career and reputation would benefit a lot from a top hit or two. Or three.

I went to her tour last night and when u buy a tour book you get the Deluxe Album on CD attached that was cool and great way to move albums
