Many studies are like contracts with the small letters people don't read. The study is implying that a spore that CAN be found in obese individuals CAN pass to not-obese individuals. Tbh that's about it. It doesn't mean obese people will make other people obese by breathing in the same room. Should be put to quarantine all obese people then? Make obese prisons? This is not a big study and cannot be generalized, and certainly not conclude that obesity is an infectious disease. It's just a very small theory that the media is using as click bait. Are they mushrooms? Space Orks? I guess I now need to wear a surgical mask in public like they do in Asia. Regarding partners, it's typically because most people find comfort in someone they can relate to. Not disproving this article or anything, but there's more context than you're implying.
