I live in the American South so Charlie Daniels was one of my favorites as a kid, though looking back at his lyrics now he was a bit more than homophobic...still fun to listen to, though. Johnny Cash was played in my house almost as much as Michael Jackson. Then there was Hank Williams, Reba Mcentire, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, and the Grand Ole Opry (but they're more Gospel than country ).
