Morphine Prince 109,655
(CNN) - Donald Trump on Sunday compared the U.S.'s trade deficit with China, which he regularly laments and vows to tackle as president, to rape. "We can't continue to allow China to rape our country, and that's what they're doing," Trump said during his second rally Sunday in Fort Wayne, Indiana, referring to China's high number of exports relative to the U.S. Trump has repeatedly accused China of manipulating its currency to make its exports more competitive on the global market and has claimed that China is "killing" the U.S. on trade. But Sunday marks the first time this campaign that Trump has used the term "rape" to refer to what he views as China's dominance in trade with the U.S. "We're going to turn it around. And we have the cards, don't forget it. We're like the piggy bank that's being robbed. We have the cards. We have a lot of power with China," Trump said Sunday before referring to China's relationship with the U.S. as rape. Trump added that he is not "angry at China," but with U.S. leaders whom he accused of being "grossly incompetent." SKANK 14,288
Trump claims China is both "killing" and "raping" the US economy, yet it is the rape metaphor which makes headlines. It's strange to me that to reference murder in metaphor or in humor is acceptable in our society, but to reference rape in metaphor or in humor is strictly forbidden. It's because murder can often be put into a grey area of morals. Murder may not be right, but it can be justified. Rae can't be justified. And much of the world sees that. I don't agree. slay - verb - kill (a person or animal) in a violent way murder - verb - kill (someone) unlawfully and with premeditation Two words used on this site after every performance Gaga has ever given. Both terms used casually in metaphor now. I don't think the moral grey area of killing is the reason why our culture is more comfortable using murder metaphor over rape metaphor. There are many degrees of killings, from unintentional manslaughter to outright murder. There are killings that are justifiable, especially in defense when there is no recourse or if it would save lives. There are no variants of rape. There is only rape. There is no justifiable rape. You can't rape in defense. So what are you disagreeing about? In any case, people are desensitized to killing. It's even used in colloquial informal contexts. You don't see that happening with rape, except perhaps with overzealous CoD players, because raped people, unlike victims of killings, are still very much alive and among us. Murder and kill are often interchanged in colloquial speech without actually referencing the severity of the offense. There are dozens of synonyms for killing, as well as many definitions, some not even related to death. For example, you can "kill" a connection. You can be a "kill"-joy. Kill is a synonym for ending. Murder is a synonym for kill. There are transitive relationships. There is nothing analogous to rape. Even synonyms such as molestation are not thrown around haphazardly.
