HolyDelRey 21,101
I know, that some of you don't want to talk about the ARTPOP mess, but due to the big recent releases (Work, Dangerous Women, Formation) & etc. I feel free to say that Lady Gaga's Do What u Want could've been one of the Lady Gaga's biggest hits ever, the GP loved the song, i have so many friends that are in love with this track, can you image high production video (not the leaked one), and a few performances of the song on talk shows like (Ellen, JImmy) and on events like (BBMAS, AMAs, and VMAs) the video would probably outviewed Bad Romance on VEVO, and peaked at #1. Also Lady Gaga made mistake when she didn't release that song as a lead single. Sh** happens i guess. The only prisons that exist are ones we put each other in.. venusfly 17,885
I agree. If released today it would've been a much much giant hit than it was back then, its just another example of her being ahead of her time It could've done with a better video though, I'm so glad the one she was making never made it out. Nothing about it looked artistic.

Sunday 2,183
That reminds me.. Why would she even shoot it's music video with such overly sexualized concept in the first place if she wouldnt even release it for the very same reason ? someone enlighten me

Didymus 34,380
Not sure though. She performed that song on many hit shows and it barely made an impact on sales. Maybe if she had released it as the debut single.. or I don't know. But no, I don't think it would've been easy to turn that into one of her biggest hits. Morphine Prince 106,103
She was too stubborn to release a music video. They could've just remade one. The era was done for anyway due to the management issues, might as well have on mega hit.
HolyDelRey 21,101
Just now, Didymus said: Not sure though. She performed that song on many hit shows and it barely made an impact on sales. She has more views on the Audio, than the GUY video itself, sold more than Judas without music video. The only prisons that exist are ones we put each other in.. VANTABLACK 7,793
She Could have just released the song with a new video with Christina ,it would have saved the whole era. But instead she did g.u.y which was nice and closed the era but that video has so significance in terms of gagas career it made no impact. The housewives were cringeworthy. ,it's basically paparazzi 2.0 with the message of dwuw. Even if she did not want to release dwuw video ,a Venus video by Steven Klein/Ruth hogben would have quenched our thirst . Or MANiCURE as telephone continuation and then GYPSY as the final single with a tour video would have been a final great chapter to a messy era . ARTPOP wasn't a mess, entirely, don't listen to people who tell you to shut up about it. You're entitled to your opinion about the album, beats hearing about some of the things people fan girl over on here. But that said, I completely disagree, Do What U Want to me will always be a bad song and even worse single choice, even if some people are copying it now. i also really don't recall the public liking the song, they were more confused by it and how it correlated to message and theme of ARTPOP, it was a complete 180 from the tone of Applause. which was a song people did love and thought was indicative of what ARTPOP would be. and I recall people saying "here we go again, Gaga complaining about fame." What I do recall positive about the song is a few critics complimenting the production of the song, the music. But then people started slamming the track because of R. Kelly's presence and labelled it "rape anthem". Christina kind of saved the song, but it was too late, the damage was done. Edonis 28,950
I know she was over it, but she really should've just released a low budget artsy version of a video. Like a single camera and her rolling around in bad headlines about her. I mean, there was no reason to give up. I just have a lot of bitter feelings about the ARTPOP era because she did basically give up on it after GUY and moved onto things like C2C. Oh well.
