She's definitely still got that 'gay icon' label.  I don't think she'll ever appeal to the average straight man like Rih and Katy.

One radio hit and here we go.

How on earth does Katy appeal to the average straight man. I highly doubt they have teenage dream on their phone :air:

LOL.

She can, because she did to me. Also, one of my friends who's an obvious straight loves her music. It's just good. I don't know why these stuck up straights are afraid to join a cult like this (well I do bc they don't like to be associated with lgbts but for someone like me who lives in an environment where these preconceptions/prejudice never existed I naturally just chose the fan life) because it is fun as HELL.

The gays have abandoned her because she is going to church instead of releasing LG5 :green:

...she is conventionally attractive and has massive t***.  It's foolish to say she doesn't.

Oh no, when roar came out the straightest guys in my class was signing it. Also have you seen her tan and GIANT TITS? Her lyrics are kiddy and sexual at the same time, and she speaks on no social issues.

Applause was definitely the right direction but she needs a SMASH.

I'm a living proof :hor:  Plus, I know a lot of fellow straight guys who listen to her, though they consider her more of a guilty pleasure :laughga:  My gym buds have Judas, Applause, and Bad Romance on their workout playlist because they think it's energetic. Though the gay icon that has been written in Gaga's reputation seems very difficult to brush off, so I think it's a 50/50. :rockstar:

Not really comfortable with taking terms like "gay niche" for granted :rip: The perception that she's an artist that's gay or to be enjoyed by "the gays" is something else.

I think that image actually was constructed mostly in 2010 (not 2011 like many pretend) when she basically talked about "gay stuff" in every single interview. Plus, statements like "gay men understand me because they get my aesthetic" didn't help :chica:

I think that reputation was never that overpowering though. I think more people associate her with bad music (though her talent is definitely getting more and more attention) and "theatrics" than some gayness. I think a lot of people think she's talented but just don't like her music, which is why they don't get pulled in completely. But that's not the same thing as being in a gay niche.
