The Housewives didn't realize their purpose either, because if they did I don't think they would have agreed to be in the video. It was a commentary on pop culture. Gags basically is showing the different between a celebrity and an artist, hence why the housewives are playing the instruments incorrectly because they have no real talent. Kinda shady tbh.

It's not shady at all when it's a response to the media throwing Kim Kardashian in the same page as Michael Jackson. I loved this commentary because she's the only artist with balls enough to say it because the others are scared of losing their fame whereas Gaga isn't, because she'll still have her talent. It's the old saying, it's not arrogant if it's true. Society is obsessed with reality television and you can't blame artists for getting angry when it is placed not only at a sociological priority but goes against social change and derides the meaning of true showbiz and true art. It is one of my favourite statements from Gaga. The very fact that when it's mentioned people call it shady SPEAKS VOLUMES about the extent to which reality tv is ingrained in social consciousness. It's sad.

ARTPOP was both intentionally and unintentionally hilarious, I agree. It's definitely her most light-hearted era in terms of entertainment value. It was just a weird mix of taking itself too seriously and also poking fun at itself, like the G.U.Y video. And I think that was people's main issue with the album and era. It was claiming to be high art while at the same time being superficial, fun pop music. As a concept it worked in theory. But in practice...it evidently failed. Never mind - the important thing is she tried and I love her for standing by that album to this day.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

Yeah right? This makes me think - was she unable to be as creative and innovative during the creation of ARTPOP, or was she so fed up and angry at the industry, that she was like FUСK YOU! SСREW YOU! I won't give you my talent this time, you don't deserve it. You want my ugly face - there you go. But then, at the same time, her aesthetics were so bright, positive and wanted to convey so much in it. The irony on the album nears almost self-mockery, but songs like ARTPOP, Dope, Gypsy feel so personal and deep.

It's a hot mess, and it's the reason I love it (also the reason so much fans hate it, paradoxically :emma: ) I don't think anyone else is capable of cramming so much things into one piece. It's just raw passion and anger exploding. But it also has a very interesting story to tell behind the storm.

Lol, her explanation was that she was 'snapped back to reality' by reality TV so she had the housewives :toofunny:

I gotta applaud you for turning what's basically a major trashing of the entire era and what it stood for into a "compliment" towards her. But I'm not convinced :diane:

100% wrong and if you paid any attention during that time of her career you would know it. Gaga most literally explained why the Housewives were in there and it was most definitely not a commentary of any kind. She repeated over and over again that watching the Housewives helped her to get through the period where she just couldn't do anything but sit still because of her hip. In the video this is represented by the moment she's under water, waiting to come to life again while she heals.

Even within the video there's proof you're wrong: she uses the Housewives to take over the industry. How do you explain that? Plus, she's actually besties with one of them now. Didn't you see her falling off her heels drunk off her ass after having dinner with her? All the Instagram pics? The praise towards her? Unless you want to accuse her of upholding an absolutely fake friendship for over a year now, I suggest you change your mind about that.

See above.

Bye bye favorite Gaga statement. You guys are unbelievable :rip: Are you not watching her interviews? Or are you and are you just concluding she's straight up lying 24/7?
