They're both fantastic pieces, but if you take them both as one big collective work, a giant insight into Beyonce's life and relationship with Jay-Z, everything is cast into such a different light. Especially when self-titled is looked at in retrospection. Seriously, after Lemonade, ST turns into an entirely different album. Not to mention the career high visuals given to both albums. But Beyonce felt extremely forced to me and had an extremely bland trap heavy production throughout the majority of the album. Lemonade succeeds because the production is extremely varied throughout.
