Spock 20,290
Okay, so this is a Stephen Sondheim ballad from A Little Night Music. I'm a huge Sondheim fan, this is one of my favorite songs, and I'm a HUGE Grace Jones fan. I've been thinking about this for a while. Send In The Clowns has been covered many times, and is a really popular Jazz standard But here, Grace gives it a a totally bop disco spin. She's been working with Mark Ronson and Nile Rodgers, so imagine a kind of updated instrumental like I Want Your Love but still retaining the feel of this bawp. Also the lyrics it's a song about a break up, but you can totally apply the lyrics and the clown metaphor to ARTPOP and what was happening Just when I'd stopped opening doors, Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours,Making my entrance again with my usual flair, Sure of my lines, No one is there. Don't you love farce? My fault I fear.I thought that you'd want what I want. Sorry, my dear. But where are the clowns? Quick, send in the clowns. Don't bother, they're here.Isn't it rich? Isn't it queer, Losing my timing this late In my career? And where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns. Well, maybe next year. It's obviously not going to happen, plus both Grace and Stephen have shaded her to death, but a henny can dream. Also, I really hope she brings it with the disco/funk hybrid that's apparently going on who will love me when the night is over

jezze0410 393
I'd certainly be up for this later on in her career, but if she sings it now, I think it will lack the pathos that the song needs. I adore the fact that Gaga is doing so much jazz and so many musical theatre numbers, but she still tends to over-sing and over-emote: both of which will ruin this song. There is a reason that the best-remembered renditions of this song are by actresses who can sing (Judy Dench and Catherine Zeta-Jones) rather than singers!
