Gaga and Beyoncé didn't start anything stated, but guess what, it's Beyoncé who delivers and finishes as of late.

Because you stated a tautology. Of course something can't be the first if it happened after someone else already did the same thing. That is not even worthy of mentioning.

I guess I thought you were trying to say something deep or introspective. Didn't realise you were just stating the bleeding obvious.

Well Enigma doesn't seem to think it was obvious, and that's who I was asking the question to. You seem confused here. Maybe you should talk to him. He says in the OP that she wasn't the first, yet the whole point of this thread is that she was somehow "ahead" despite admitting other artists have thought of it - not to mention actually executed it. And before you get at me again, no, that wasn't a dig. I'm not calling her lazy or a liar or whatever other nonsense you may have to offer.

I have absolutely no idea why you're trying to start **** for no reason when it was you that read a whole lot into one tiny, simple thing. Typical LM behaviour, I suppose.

The music videos were filmed from Early 2006 to Beginning of 2007 though

and it doesnt really matter if beyonce planned it from the beginning or not (even though she did) because the point is, its been done before by plenty of people. Only difference is that Gaga's plans never come to fruition. Her ideas are always scrapped and watered down. I hope for the next album all her original ideas come in full circle but I'm not sure because even her latest grammy performance was supposed to be something big, innovative and exciting but we ended up just getting a tribute performance that felt more like a drag vegas performance.

Nobody claimed that Gaga was the first to do visual albums. I think Gaga back then got too excited about her dreams and ambitions and probably over-shared with her fans too much. Like she was always thinking out loud. So I think that is why she is not revealing much about her ideas anymore.

Gaga is very humble, she even admitted that ARTPOP is not even her own idea and that it's actually been around for a long time. She just gave it a new name for a new audience (watch the interview). That's what I love about her. She engages with her fans. And she honours the ones before her who inspired her.

Typical Little Monster behaviour? Tell me more about it. Do you also believe in the Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy?

You see, now I understand your modus operandi. You never say anything provocative or introspective. Instead you say something vague or obvious (or vaguely obvious), wait for a Monster to overreact or misunderstand your circular gibberish, all so you can claim that we're all the same. It's how you get your kicks.

The thing is that I would rather die than not be a Little Monster. I never want to go back to the person that I used to be. Someone like you.

Damn. Well, okay...

I don't think we've ever had an exchange before so I'm a little confused that you seem to have such a personal issue with me and seemingly misinterpret what I say on purpose. If I really ruffle your feathers that much, then I'd recommend you utilise the 'ignore' feature so that you don't have to put up with my vaguely obvious circular gibberish ever again! That way you might have a more pleasant GGD experience.

Have a great day! :)

She has such an affectation when speaking in this interview, not her real speaking voice.

Art Pop has been around forever.  Art pop was mentioned in an interview by U2 back in the '90s when they were more experimental and doing the PopMart tour.

It was mentioned somewhere in one of Bowie's interviews I once saw.

Everything is circular.  It's the quality of work that is important and how ideas and genres are used or reinvented.  I felt Gaga's Art Pop fusion was one huge failure and never made sense.  I felt it was never cohesive or worked.  Her concert, the one with the flying dress, none of it truly melded art and pop when I watched it.   That's to me.  Maybe it made sense to other fans.

Apart from her voice, how do you feel about what she had to say? Because she said in the interview that ARTPOP has been around for a while. But let me correct you on one thing. ARTPOP is not about synthesis of art and pop. It's about the cycle of pop becoming art and now art becoming pop.

I was fine with what she said.  I still think the Art Pop concept never worked -- again, for me.  I can't speak for others.

I remember watching the first promotion,, the one where she was in black and barefoot, and being blown away by her new evolution and delivery of the new songs.  I think it's one of the best performances Gaga has ever given.

Then the flying dress concert comes.  I waited up for that and couldn't wait, and it was just dry as dust for me .  And it just didn't click -- for me -- except for her walk through the audience singing Art Pop.  That was amazing.  I saw nothing brilliant about Art and Pop and the tie in in that mini concert.  But for someone else, maybe it was amazing to them.  I just don't think she did anything brilliant with that concept.  Her pop has always had an art to it.  Pop art has always been around.  Again, it never jelled to anything amazing to me, her vision.

Kabexuela

Visual albums were created around the 1960's.  They evolved into what we see today.  Same concept, different formats developed as years pass.

Actually *pushes up glasses* I think you'll find that ARTPOP could mean anything :usrs:

It was an album and "movement" of creativity and freedom. One final push back against the people who were always trying to slap a label on art, pop culture, and anything in between...but you probably already knew that

Physical pain

Do you mean the ArtRave? The album release party? 'Cause Volantis was debuted before that joint exposition/show :ohno: and of course the entirety of ARTPOP blew me away. The way she spoke about it, the way she sang and performed all the songs, you just don't see that kind of raw passion in many artists. ARTPOP literally changed my world view and personally affected me :flutter:

🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

Okay. I understand your point of view. For me, ARTPOP was only the first act of what was intended to be a much greater spectacle. Some performances were thrilling, others were isolating. I guess I'm judging it differently because I write poems and short stories and know how hard the process is. You get sidetracked. Sadness gets in the way.
