By registering to vote as an independent, you give up the right to vote in a primary and help choose that party's nominee... because you don't belong to that party. Shocking. It doesn't take a ton of research to find out which party lies closest to your political views, if you do want to participate in the primary process. Donald Trump Easily Wins the New York Primary Upon the closing of polls in New York tonight, Donald Trump was declared the victor in the state’s primary by several news outlets includingthe AP and NBC. As of this moment it appears that it will be a decisive victory. CNN is projecting that Ted Cruz will take home zero delegates tonight, which would leave the state’s 95 delegates to be sorted between Trump and John Kasich. Per FiveThirtyEight, Trump would take home 14 delegates if he wins at least 50 percent of the total vote. The other 81 delegates will be portioned out by district, and though a second-place Kasich could conceivably nab a couple, tonight is shaping up to be a gluttonous one for Trump. The Washington Post’s Dave Weigel notes if Trump does indeed get over 50 percent, as he’s currently projected, it would be the first state in which he scored a majority. May 10: West Virginia (Hillary/ Bernie) May 17: Oregon (Bernie) Kentucky (Bernie/ Hillary) June 5: Puerto Rico (Hillary) and that leaves 2 "big" states left: California (548) and New Jersey (142) on June 7.
