Try using Gaga's acapella cover from the Monsterball movie as a model to imitate instead of the pop song if you aren't going to heavily edit your voice with special effects and if you're using a piano accompaniment (like how she sustained the notes at the end of phrases longer; added vibrato to parts of the song; used a wide range of dynamics/volume, etc.).
