I think the issue is not European culture. I am born in a European country and we don't have such issues there because we are the dominant culture in our countries (overall) and so the immigration is about assimilation, foreigners have to adopt our customs more or less and it depends how it strongly imposed on them according where they live. But in countries like Canada and the US "white" culture has been decided the norm and dominant culture for no really "legitimate" reason plus POC and First People have been discriminated by this dominant culture so it's understandable that now it's looked down upon if you are European or have such heritage. Plus if you look worldwide most European countries really messed up with colonies war and stuff so yeah we have a bad image... But I just home people are smart enough to see me as a person and that I am not responsible for my culture or brith place, but I am responsible of being an assh*le or not ahahah

That's absolutely false and all you're doing is intentionally trying to incite racial devision. Equality is equality and almost everyone wants it. People get pissed off though when you ask for special privileges likes affirmative action or "claiming" racism. That is not equality.

However, if you are going to have a big party with food, you really need to get a private room or wait a couple of days when the mom comes home. There is pain and potentially various embarrassing type situations that are going on with a new mother for the first couple of days. Many new mothers are trying to be relaxed so they can breastfeed or they have pain from stitches, gas, constipation, migraines from the epidural, etc. Plus, the exhaustion that comes with giving birth. I wouldn't blame any new mother for wanting to avoid being in a room with someone who was going to have a big party. The racist reason is completely unacceptable, though!

well "party" it's not a music and dancing and screaming kind of party.

More a lot of food, showing the baby and letting all the women says "awwww", laughing, talking.. and eating...sharing it with the other new mom in the room and her family.. there's a limit of the number of people in a room for each woman anyway in Israel, so It's notl ike there are 40 people inside a room.. 5-7 max..

I gotta agree with y'all, BUT here in germany I heard of many cases where many fresh moms are often put in one room together and it happens that esp. foreigner women often get visited by many many people+family at once. And they often don't think about the other fresh moms who need rest, so it happens that a german mom can't sleep or relax because the room is filled with lots and lots of strangers (10+?) instead of just a few at a time as it is more the case with german families.

I agree birth is something to celebrate but it is important to let the fresh moms rest and to make sure only a few people visit at a time.

This thread is a mess, no one is actually talking about this practice of segregation, this guy is not alone in this.

They're usually seperated by curtain or they can get private rooms, like I did. Solution for that is for hospital to have limited number of visitors per time, not to segregate moms based on race or religion.

Besides, this is happening in Middle East and now suddenly people with European origin want to dictate how others should behave. Not to mention dehumanization of these babies from birth - "he will grow up to kill".

This is obviously not official policy, but is being implemented by nurses on these wards, with doctors and hospital management turning a blind eye. However, in many hospitals that are reimbursed for every delivery, this policy is part of the benefits offered to new mothers, an attractive bonus for those who choose to give birth in a hospital.

Reshet Bet radio has reported that hospitals such as Hadassah University Hospital, Ein Karem and Hadassah University Hospital, Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, Ichilov in Tel Aviv and Meir in Kfar Sava direct Arab and Jewish women to separate rooms, either automatically or at the women’s request.

Just over two years ago I gave birth to my first child, a boy, at Meir Hospital in Kfar Sava. That’s  one of the Israeli public hospitals named in recent news reports that practice an unspoken segregation between Jewish and Arab mothers in maternity wards. 

The reports sparked an uproar in Israel and have led to Israel’s Health Ministry summoning the hospitals involved to reiterate to them that these practices violate state regulations. 

While I can’t speak to what is official, or even unofficial, policy at Meir, I can speak to my time in its maternity ward, which was one of the more integrated Jewish-Arab experiences I encountered in my nearly eight years living in Israel. 

Ethnic and religious segregation and racism occur all too frequently in Israel, and childbirth isn’t immune. When I was pregnant, acquaintances casually asked me why I would want to deliver my baby at a hospital frequented by Arabs. And just last week, lawmaker Bezalel Smotrich sent the contemptible tweets that set off the hospital uproar, posting about his “not racist” wife not wanting to share a maternity ward room with an Arab.
