We pronouce it Tshikia in arabic and it's always been that way lol they're apparently the only ones calling themselves the republic judging by this thread :toofunny:

We also have a shorter name for the country, I just don't think it's necessary to change the official one.

It sounds horrible, I don't like it.

Spoiler

yes, I'm from The Czech Republic :green:

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

Great, Czech Republic always sounded like a socialist state to me. In my country we call it "Czechy", pronounced Che-hee

It seems a little close to Chechnya and might cause some confusion but I guess when you consider Austria/Australia and Niger/Nigeria, it really isn't that bad.

Checkia, in my language it's been called similar to that for years.

:rip::rip::rip: This means a handjob in Bulgarian. :saladga: :air: ck sound is not what you say in the name. It's the ch sound (in Slavic languages tho, not like in English or Spansih, it's closer to h or the German ch).

Anyway, I think it only affects English-speaking countries. In Bulgarian it's always been Чехия (Czechia) and only alternatively Чешка република (Cheshka republika).

So congratz to all them Česky kundy @Honza :gaycat: :derpga: :stalkga:
