Homeland Security are advising Windows users to uninstall Quicktime from their machines. Here's why.

TrendMicro's Zero Day program noted two high-risk vulnerabilities in QuickTime for Windows, which can be triggered when the user accesses any tainted file or opens any malicious site.

With Apple backing out of the game, instant removal of the Windows software might be a good idea to protect the system from the potential attacks.

While no news of any such attacks against the system flaws has come to light yet, TrendMicro advises that the only solution to this problem would be to stick with Apple's recommendation. Echoing the security software maker's sentiments, US-CERT has also issued an alert warning the users of the same.

What this basically means is, Quicktime has multiple severe issues that can allow people to access your computer, Apple will not be issuing fixes for them, so you should remove Quicktime from your Windows PC. Mac is unaffected.

That's funny, I uninstalled it from my computer like two weeks ago because I was tired of getting update notifications. Who the hell uses Quicktime anyway?

Is that still a thing on Windows?

There are way better players out there.

Nobody really uses it, just many people have it because it bundles with itunes which many people need if they have iphones
