You probably just watched Sailor Moon in your entire life. Not everything in anime it's japanese or even asian. -Dragon Ball: set in China (still asian but not japanese) -Black Butler: they are british (and in the live action movie they asian-washed characters and make them japanese) -Ouran Host Club: A lot of foreign characters -Noir: Set in France -El Cazador de la bruja: set in Mexico -Full Metal Alchemist: they are caucasian (I think they were british too) -Attack on Titan: Dystopian future with no specific place, but everything look very european -Saint Seiya: Characters from around the world. Mentions Greek and Roman gods. -Pokemon: Fantasy dimension with combined cultures. -Saber Marionette R: Set in "Romania" (Italia) -Hellsing: England -Heidi: Germany -Candy Candy: England -Sandy Bell: England ... And the list keeps going and going, so...before you complain about everything, check your facts first

PERFECTIONIST 2,139
I think the casting for main roles should also consider the writer and creator to see what race the character was written in its like this girl getting casted as Frida Kahlo only cause she has thick eyebrows and an acting background I would be livid, fuming, and pressed my hobbies include lying about PI leaking and getting everyone shook on GGD

As much as I agree with this and wish there was a more broad representation, you have to remember that it is Asians who are accepting these roles thus playing a part in perpetuating a stereotype. When you are an actor and you are willing to do whatever it takes to make it in your profession, you take what you get. Directors never want a temperamental, picky actor. aaronyoji 2,055
as an asian, i find this to be ****ing stupid and overblown. like, the characters white, sorry and scarlett looks like her as much as a HUMAN can look like a CARTOON. aaaaand anime constantly glorifies white americans..... White people will never know what minorities feel, however. Because they've been conditioned that racism has already happened and has ended. This messy ass thread should be closed honestly Imma have to disagree with this one, friend There's many forms of oppression, racial isn't the only one, just the one that we know best. People (black, white, and everything in between) are put down for hundreds of reasons. I'm light skinned but I've been oppressed in other ways, namely being gay and feminine (by some people's standards), but you don't see me saying "straight people don't know how I feel" do you? No, because that solves literally nothing and is probably factually incorrect. They have to deal with insecurities, unsupportive parents/family, hostile environments, or outright hatred just like I have, but just for different reasons. I've also been ostracized because I'm Puerto Rican and sometimes speak broken Span-glish with friends in public, but I don't blame the white man, I blame idiots who don't understand basic common decency. What everyone needs to stop doing is alienating and pointing fingers at white people (or any majority, really) and saying they're the villains here, 'cause they're not. Bigots are. Racism =/= White people vs. Everyone else Racism = Ignorant bigots vs. sane, rational, and compassionate people Learn that fact, stop playing the blame game, and we can keep moving forward as a society, hand in hand You're stinky
