Has will.i.am just blatantly ripped off Gaga?

This isn't ripping Gaga off. It's just another use of appropriation in mainstream pop music.

Nobody is saying Gaga invented art or anything tho, but its so funny that everyone MAGICALLY does similar things to her after she does.

Like tidal's "putting the artist at the front" and taylors, mileys, britney's and basically almost everyones "artsy" statements and styles changing overnight

But yeah we're delusionals etc..

WTF is MDNA

Yes. She did an exhibition of paintings coming to life and they were presented in the Louvre, which is where will.i.am's video is set. Educate yourself. I'm not saying she invented ARTPOP and this has nothing to do with the Mona Lisa. I'm saying the concept of a popstar becoming characters in Renaissance paintings, set in the Louvre, is kind of a rip-off.

But if it's true that will.i.am made this video before ARTPOP was released, then maybe Gaga's the plagiarist instead. :stalkga: Likelihood? Not very.

robert wilson did those coming to life art many imes before with alot other celebs so ......no

OMG seriously? How many times do I have to say it? Gaga was the first and only pop star to appear in art form in the Louvre. I'm not saying she's the first person to do art pieces that come to life. It's the fact that she and Robert Wilson created moving Renaissance paintings in the Louvre...which is exactly what will.i.am has done.

I mean... I'm kind of done explaining myself. The comparisons are extremely obvious and anyone who can't see them... well, good luck with your lives.:lolga:

You could argue that will.i.am's video is just "inspired" or "appropriated" by Gaga and Robert Wilson's exhibition, but in my opinion it is blatant plagiarism. Gaga is not some up-and-coming artist who nobody pays attention to. She is a trendsetter and always has been. I'm honestly surprised so many of you are so quick to discredit the obvious impact of her work.

Now, this does make sense!

Gaga din't invent mixing pop culture with art or mentioning art when talking about your work, but it seems the trend has become more mainstream ever since she did it!
