Singles are supposed to support an album, the singles can be so diffirent sonically for a same album. You're right, singles are only meant to support an album. It keep the artist on the radio. Releasing the most commercial songs is what pop artists are expected to do, not necessarily the best song. Singles like Problem, Rolling in The Deep and Work (Rih) are not representative of their albums but they are the most commercial songs on the album. It's why popstars don't release the 'fan favourite' song or are reluctant to (Gaga with Marry The Night as the last single and Rihanna with Cry which was never released.) because they usually are the most creative or deep song which are not qualities radio look for. OT: Bebe was never that creative anyway.. She can write a really good pop hook which fits into pop music but I never saw depth with her. Illuminati 15,786
i wouldn't say that no broken hearts is that much different to her previous material, it's all aimed at the same audience and all three songs are of similar music style. the lyrical content of no broken hearts may not be as deep but i mean gaga created songs like cake too and well she's not a sell out

RadioIsOurs 13,835
So what? You don't think Gaga had sold out too? Just Dance? The Fame was such a depature from the work she had done earlier.

Bebes new music is still the same category of Pop and electronic , and that's how she got known from her first ep she released in 2014. and u can't compare Gagas first album to bebes work now ,just dance was groundbreaking .during that time dance music was not big on the radio .gaga had to promote that **** like a starving artist for people to play it on the radio . I don't think u call that a sell out.peopel never wanted to take her seriously . But then she struck a cord that changed POp music forever .

Obviously I'm a mod here, I love Gaga's music and I'm glad she went through that evolution (it does feel authentic to me too) I just thought it was a good example. I'm not a fan of Bebe Rexha, but artists change. If she wants to make a career out of music and therefore shifted her talents to write music that could appeal to a more mainstream audience then that's cool - doesn't bother me. Starving artist's cute but not forever. That was before gaga got a record deal and before she made Pop dance music . If this girl releases an awful lead single, people have every right to say her music sucks. No they are not. Single are just meant to be popular and get a lot of radio play so it's a good advertisement for the album, nothing more. Back in a day singles weren't even album tracks. "That was before gaga got a record deal and before she made Pop dance music" But that's kinda the point isn't it? I mean she went from piano ballads to getting signed by a record label, bleaching her hair and making dance pop. I agree that Just Dance was groundbreaking in the U.S, but it flew up the charts overseas where dance music was already huge. It's a very simple and catchy pop song, clearly designed to be a hit. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all, but Gaga was hoping for the song to become a smash - that's how she designed it and she bragged about what a catchy, hit pop song she created. I'm not saying Bebe's work is as groundbreaking or as interesting to me, I'm just saying that I don't see a problem with an artist who decides to use their talents in a different way in order to gain mainstream success. If you want a career in music then you sort of have to do that.
