Can't wait.

I actually thought Pretty Girls was the lead single for some time. :toofunny:

Btw it seems like artists releasing promotional singles before the actual album is the thing now.

FourFiveSeconds - Bitch Better Have My Money - American Oxygen before Anti

Focus before Dangerous Woman

Pretty Girls before B9

And tbh the 3 Rihanna singles were better than the whole Anti album in my opinionanigif_enhanced-buzz-29441-1382628136-0.

actually, it was the lead single. More like a test-lead single. Since it flopped it was dropped as a lead single, though.

Iggy Azalea. I think I might have read something where she said that she wanted to keep the song for her own album, but Britney wanted it for her own or something like that.

"Britney’s manager, Larry Rudolph, went on to say that Britney will still be putting out music, just not a full album. He said, “Right now we’re just concentrating on putting out a few great singles as they come. We’re not really talking seriously about a new album yet. Albums just aren’t as important in the digital age as they used to be. Britney will get to one eventually, but not right now.”

Still think it was supposed to be a lead, but they wanted to see if it would smash and it didn't

It was a terrible song (despite being a bop) so im glad they took some time for the album

I didn't dispute when he said it, i'm just saying if it smashed like i think they thought it would they would've announced it as a lead

"I was thinking about my next single for my next album and what I was gonna do, and I wanted to do a girl anthem."

"Pretty Girls has been predicted as the lead single off of Britney's untitled ninth album, although it has yet to have an official release date."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3143406/Iggy-Azalea-Britney-Spears-duet-Pretty-Girls-flopped-charts.html

Yes, indeed Iggy was very upset that Britney didn't bother to promote the song: 'It's difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately I'm just featured'.

IF Pretty Girls had done well on the charts, it would have become the lead single. It flopped and was subsequentely dropped as a lead single. It was originally planned as the lead single, though, as "my next single for my next album" indicates.

Yes !!! It was a TEST LEAD SINGLE. It was planned to be a lead single under the condition that it performs well. If not, then it won't be labelled as such. A very smart move, tbh. Release as many singles as you want and pick the best one as your lead single :laughga:

Michael

Pretty Girls was intended to be the lead single from the new album, but that was changed after it underperformed and the album also heavily changed direction. I believe the majority of material recorded around that time has been scrapped.
