I have nothing but respect for Beyonce, but I said something about the surprise release not too long ago, so I felt the need to respond (and I'll say it again - I'll be very bitter if Gaga follows her lead & releases a surprise album, and as a result, I don't have the time to emotionally prepare myself. Both are "overrated" "Both can do no wrong" "Both haven't had a number one in years" "Both are part of the Illuminati" "I like her because she worked with her, but her fans are so obsessed." Fans can put me off to a certain degree. You don't want to associated with an artist who has psychotic fans because people think badly of you when you say you like the artist. But most importantly, it means you'll have to deal with these annoying fans if you support the artist, including forums, album signings, meet and greets and live concerts. I don't know if I could stand to enjoy myself in a crowd of obnoxious people. See when I hear about fights breaking out and all the weed smoking that goes on at Rihanna shows, for example, I'm really glad I don't have to endure that. Let's not even go into how bolshy fans of rock artists can be at concerts. Or teenage girls screaming until your eardrums burst at a One Direction concert. And if the fans are like this, it can rub off badly on the artist. It's not completely right to think this way, but we think of it nonetheless. Gaga hasn't been called 'overrated' or 'can do no wrong' since BTW, even by her own fans. Post-TFM, Gaga lost a lot of fans and public support and she's only just now starting to recover. Beyonce, however, has been overrated since day one and has never stopped, even when she underperformed with 4. It annoyed me how she could survive that while Gaga got thrown to the lions despite actually gaining more hits with AP and actually touring with it. Gaga has no reason to be thought of as overrated now because she's been flopping somewhat for a while. And as for the last #1, Gaga's last one (2011) was more recent than Beyonce's (2009). Drunk In Love was Beyonce's first US top ten in 4 years. Post-2009, she's only had one US top ten. Post-2009 Gaga has had 6 top tens and a #1. Gaga's a bigger hitmaker, not to mention a better overall musician. And Beyonce's got the bonus of being able to sell out a tour with no album which Gaga hasn't done yet. Every time someone makes a "2nd Favorite Pop girl" poll, Beyoncé leads it, along with Katy Perry and Lana Del Rey. Those are the most popular artists on this site.
