boobtank 9,090
Am I the only one who thinks that they make absolutely no sense and seem kinda pretentious? It's funny I'm saying this because it's one of my favourite Gaga songs of all time... Do people have their interpretations of the lyrics?
Juvelius 375
the whole album is pretentious from the opening track to the end, if you didn t notice

Lucas 26,074
I also don't really have an interpretation for the song but if I'm not wrong someone made a decryptage of the lyrics a few days ago??
Ray of Light 8,134
It's literally about her living between fantasy and reality... So yes.

holy scheisse 22,170
Nah she's just very into it and being poetic And sh*t. It's lame for people to be calling her passion pretention.
PunkTheFunk 124,337
I kind of see what you mean. Lines like "he can't rewrite the agro of my furied heart" make no sense to me (what does agro even mean??). But I wouldn't go so far as saying the whole thing is meaningless. Edit: Although I will say that the lyric as a whole does make sense. She's saying that her difficult experience of losing Jesus Christ (as both an object of divine worship and a lover) isn't 'art' for Michelangelo to carve. Even Michelangelo can't do her experience justice. But I still don't understand why she used the word 'agro'.

Voltaire 4,531
I think they're pretty badass lyrics for a pop song. Possibly pretentious, but at least not vapid or boring. Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker

TropicOfCANCER 6,292
the song makes perfect sense to me, as abstract as some of the lines may be. she's in a love with a complicated person, whom she defends despite the criticism that people may have for him. (she'll defend his actions, and is "Ready for the stones" people will cast as judgment against both him and her)....The michaelangelo line implies that people will try to interpret their relationship, but the emotional nuance and torment she feels can't be captured/defined, so try as people might, they won't ever be able to fully comprehend her experiences. She's put her faith into something that other people cannot justify, in the same way that people offer unyielding faith to religion? with that being said, some of the references are quite random: bloody mary refers to queen Mary--a 16th century English queen who killed all those who refused to convert to Catholicism, but the song positions gaga as, i believe, Mary Magdalene, a biblical figure who wiped Jesus's face as an act of compassion prior to his crucifixion. Then, of course, she references Michelangelo, an Italian renaissance artist as well as dying alone on mountain tops in Paris, so, who knows.
