Taylor Swift to receive Taylor Swift Award

I am a massive, HUGE Taylor fan, but she doesn't deserve this award. If anything, Gaga deserves it WAY more than she does. Gaga is more creative and talented.

I don't really see why everyone is hating on her though....she IS creative and talented. From the beginning of her career, she has written every single original song she has ever released. A massive majority of her songs were written ONLY by her, which is something you don't see on a lot of artist's albums. She is incredible at writing songs, especially when they are extremely emotional and drawn out. She is extremely involved in the production process and knows EXACTLY what she wants when she goes into the studio, and it always comes out flawlessly. She knows how to tell a story in her songs, one that is both easy to understand and extremely relatable, and now she can even do it on an album full of bops. 1989 especially, is extremely refined, but simplified lyrically. 

She definitely is a mediocre vocalist, but that doesn't mean her writing and creativity should be written off like many of you people love to do so often.

That Vanity Fair dude confirmed she was already writing back in November, New Romantics got DWUWed, she's barely posting on social media, she's doing that enormous racecourse concert in October and she has an app coming in Q4.

Who are the people who are the founders of these awards? What rock are they living under? How limited is their pop culture scope? It baffles me how Taylor is still seen as the pinnacle of what pop music is right now. Several better pop albums than 1989 come out every year, made by real pop professionals, not by former country artists with the help of professional pop songwriters. Taylor wouldn't be the force she is today without Max Martin and Shellback. This award should be in their name, not hers. Disgraceful how Gaga's never been honoured with an award named after her despite being one of the most influential popstars of all time. No one ever says Taylor inspired their pop music. If 1989's anything go by, she was inspired by Carly Rae Jepsen's Kiss album! It's ironic that Carly made 1989 better than Taylor could with her Emotion album. I listen to that and imagine that this is what 1989 tried to be but failed. Taylor doesn't start trends, she copies them and profits off them. She's more of a businesswoman than an artist.

Problem is, a lot of artists do exactly what she does, and a lot better at that. Writing all your songs and playing an instrument isn't some sort of novelty that deserves above and beyond praise. If anything, writing all your own songs should be a requirement in the industry, not something rare. Taylor gets so much undeserved praise for doing really basic stuff that no one else gets praised for and that's what annoys her detractors.

She deserves it. That Taylor Swift reign won't let up. Home girl still selling like it's the 90s, massive promo, humanitarian, innovative, so many accolades, writes her ENTIRE music and has an extensive career. There is no other Taylor Swift.

As long as you make it in America... the rest really does not count in comparison to America. It's the place that every other artist wants to make it in more than even their own country often. These "worldwide" artists like many like to call out have not sold close as she has... besides Adele.

She's been getting more and more successful. She's been around 10 years. I love Lady Gaga more than Taylor Swift. Let's not forget we are on a site where her 3rd full album flopped. I do not know why you guys have to bring her up in every thread. They have all touch on the same type of music and subjects that Lady Gaga has touched on, write their own songs like you guys like point all the time, innovative, and the only difference is her style and that Taylor Swift has been in the game longer plus her sales. Time to get real here.
