The "bloody" is not "she's bleeding" it's more like "dirty" like you say "bloody hell"..

When you're gone I'll still be the Mary that everyone hates, the prostitute, the dirty... this is what she meant..

This sounds legit... Thanks for clarifying. :excited2:

Lyrically, sure. But musically? I wouldn't say masterpiece.

hm I guess that's totally subjective.
I love the melody, I love the production as well. It's one of her best ones imo

I think it was actually "Scream for me. Say my name. I can't live without the fame."

"We could be caught, we're both convicted criminals of thought."

Bloody Mary was one of the most unique songs on Born This Way and in modern pop music. It deserved to become a single and have a video for it, especially around Halloween.

"We could be caught, we're both convicted criminals of thought."

Buddy

Personally I've always thought it was about Luc when he told her she would die alone a rich and miserable woman, but that she would always still love him and be tormented by his memory. "I'll tell them my religion's you," a reference to Teeth

the French in it means "I'm scared to die alone"

I also thought the dumb dumb dadas were a reference to Dada, the guy she dated during this whole thing

Interesting too that "bloody" as a curse word originally referred to the blood of Christ. It's like "zounds" in Shakespearean English, which is short for "christ's wounds".

I figured out some of these on my own before but the way you phrased them is far better than I could have.

Well put.

I've always considered to be one of the most beautiful stanzas, lyrically and musically, I've heard in my life. It's just perfect. It's amazing how her lyrics can keep you thinking for years, interpreting them in new ways and discovering new meanings with every listen.  You're so right; Bloody Mary is an absolute masterpiece.
