When she had her peak (2009 to 2011), video views were MUCH lower, it was extremely rare to see a video gather more than 400 million views. The shift truly started in 2012-2013, when Gaga was on a hiatus. We all know what happened during the ARTPOP era: Applause was a decent-sized hit but not big enough to generate massive views. The second video never happened, and when G.U.Y arrived with very little promo, it was much too late anyway.
