It was not good for me, I really like dolly and she was great.  Not sure katy really fits in country, seems out of place.  However, I think she could do some gospel music good

And you can talk about vocals as much as you please but country doesnt reguired huge vocal pipes, even Dolly doesnt have then (though she has pitch perfect delivery, where Katy was a bit unsure at times, apparent in doing harmonies). But anyway, country would sound absolutely dredfull if over sang, screamed, belted and howled through... 

I don't think anyone is really saying Katy needed to be a vocal powerhouse to pull the performance off, but she does need some ability as a singer. Dolly was never a powerhouse singer, but she is very good at what she does.

0:35-0:46 is really the only part of the entire performance where Katy sounded good/you could hear Katy.

I mean of course it would sound dreadful if it was oversung, screamed, belted and howled. That's not what anyone wants though.

I'm sorry, but Katy's stage presence is awful and awkward to watch. The fact that people love her more than they do Gaga, is a huge mystery to me.

She was alright but was somewhat drowned out by Dolly and she didn't seem to have much need to be there. Dolly did most of the singing anyway. She also seemed to awkwardly be moving beside her, unsure of what to do. For someone who started out as a Christian artist, I thought Katy would seem more at ease here. Honestly, I think Miley sang Jolene better than her. I think maybe Katy's rather inspired by Dolly as far as her ballads go, so I expected more of a ballad medley. I think that would have been better.

As much a s I really like Katy, I will have to go with the concensus that she sounded bad overral. She did good at times but I think she was nervous. Her voice was way too hoarse and sounded like she had to gasp for air constantly. It's weird because she is normally very good with acoustic or mid-tempo performances.

Plus, Dolly was slaying and overshadowed her too much. And leads to remind how great the Miley's version of Jolene is. Yep, I guess you gotta put a whole lotta soul onto that one, unlike Katy did not!

Dolly has a great voice after so long. I'm not a huge fan of Katy's vocals here but she sounded almost like her voice was gone? I like her so I don't have much prejudice against Katy. Katy just didn't add much at all to the performance. Miley would've been better here I believe.
