There is a point but the Donald isn't known for being subtle. Everyone knows it's an option all nuclear countries have "on the table", the only difference is that Donald said it aloud.

They wouldn't.

It is obvious that Trump is making up his foreign policy (and many of his other stances) as he goes along...sometimes on the spot in debates and interviews. He refuses to get council and become more educated on the most important role a US president will have.
