The Texas senator came out swinging Friday at both The Donald and the National Enquirer over a two-page spread that identified his quintet of lovers as “a hooker, a teacher & coworkers.” The prostitute was billed in the story as a “$1,000-a-night Washington call girl.” “I want to be crystal clear: these attacks are garbage,” Cruz ranted on his Facebook page. “For Donald J. Trump to enlist his friends at the National Enquirer and his political henchmen to do his bidding shows you that there is no low (where) Donald won’t go.” At a campaign event, the son of a Texas preacher called the story charging him with multiple affairs as “complete and utter lies ... a tabloid smear.” Roger Stone, a veteran political operative and one-time Trump advisor, was quoted in the Enquirer story. Trump, who had threatened days earlier to “spill the beans” about Cruz’s wife Heidi, issued a statement denying any part in the story’s publication.
