Washington (CNN) - The North Carolina Legislature on Wednesday passed a controversial bill blocking cities from allowing transgender individuals to use public bathrooms for the sex they identify as -- as well as restricting cities from passing nondiscrimination laws more broadly.

The bill now goes to North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, who is expected to sign the bill Wednesday night, according to his office.

REALITY

I honestly don't understand why people are so against letting others use the bathroom's gender that they identify with. People just need to let people be who they are, I mean, they identify as that gender for a reason, it's not like they're perverts or anything.

All they want to do is use the bathroom!

I'm reading the comments online about this and many are praising this because "No man (trans woman) should go into a woman's bathroom" but do they not realize that with this law they are now forcing trans men who look 100% like a biological male but still have a vagina to go into the women's bathroom? LOL. People may assume the individual is a biological male and scream because "A MAN IS IN THE WOMEN'S RESTROOM!" yet they are complying with this law :rip:

This is a trans man who looks completely like a biological male. Let's assume he still has a vagina. He will now be forced to go into the women's restroom.

Of course individuals like this ^ could easily just walk into the men's restroom and no one would know a thing.

Now, with trans individuals who don't LOOK like the opposite sex then I can see how it would be enforced. Example: A girl who is trans (biological male) wants to use the women's restroom but still looks male (hasn't started transitioning) and isn't allowed to.

Also trans women will now go into the men's restroom. How do most men feel about that?

Schwerk

Makes me wonder why people feel the need to make silly rules just to take the freedom of others in away. This world still  has a lot to learn

Thank you. I also don't understand why people argue that it would be dangerous. Was public washrooms safe before? No one advocated to prevent cis men from going into women's washrooms (and vice versa) cause frankly, why would they? Nothing prevented them before (physically, doors to washroom areas aren't locked, only the stalls themselves) to do any "attack" as they claim, so why is this an issue now?

Oh, cause you don't want to see a trans person peeing? Well you won't, cause the stalls have doors with locks. Jesus, politics over a 2 minute washroom break.

I fell down the stairs once as an actor.

Bloody hooker

North Carolina and Georgia need to get their **** together :grr:

Let me just hope that South Carolina won't do something similar. This discrimination needs to stop.

They can just add an extra bathroom.

Doesn't seem cost effective. And like saying "they can just use the disabled toilets", it is not the point.

The fact the my current place of residence (Florida), a gross swampland, now seems more appealing than my beautiful home state is truly appalling. I'm sick of my state being ripped apart! For the love of all humanity, PLEASE, vote these demons out this November. Its the only way to stop their rampage :grr:
