Frankenztein 1,172
I remember her saying in the SXSW interview that people were telling her to stop being crazy for the sake of her career and her saying she'd be herself until they nailed down her coffin. But isn't this exactly what she's done now? Be normal for the sake of her career? As someone who has been a fan since The Fame I really don't want to feel like I'm a fool for believing her. I'm holding my breath for LG5 to see her new transformation, and I'll withhold my feelings until then.

She's doing exactly what she said she was going to do, which is being herself at the time and in this moment. The majority of people who are heading into their thirties don't look, dress or think anything like the person they were in college. There is a lot of change that happens from your early twenties to your thirties. Gaga is presenting herself exactly how she feels at this time in her life. She very well may feel more grounded, more "normal" than she did when she was younger and working through the struggles and the fame. Fans who are expecting her to go back and going to be disappointed. You can't go back. Life doesn't work that way....and it is actually unhealthy to do so. PunkTheFunk 124,584
We can't forget that you grow up immensely in your twenties. When we were first introduced to her she was only about 22 -- practically still an adolescent. Now she's 30. I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if she told us one day that she'd grown out of that core "Lady Gaga" persona and was on her way to becoming a bit more refined and mature while still maintaining her eccentricity. Very true. It's easy for us to forget that - we expect celebrities and artists to be superhumans, and forget that they grow up, learn, and evolve just like regular people. Every adult would agree that they were a very different person between 22 and 30. Hell, I'm only 20 and I feel way different from when I was 18. This is why I think it's best to focus on looking forward when we talk about Gaga's career and not let nostalgia for the past get the best of us. 🤖⚡️

My problem is that I can't figure out how genuine it may or may not be. Is it really her growing up or is it just re-branding for the sake of her career? Part of me feels it's silly to pretend that this re-imaging is a pure natural result of her growing up. There is likely calculation involved in healing her brand. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does make me question the authenticity of who she has presented herself to be before. I never said I want her to go backwards to old Gaga. I would find that boring. I said I want to see her transform forwards into whatever new chapter of Gaga is in store. I'm cool with anything (a more mature Gaga would be good) as long as it's genuine. I'm waiting on the direction she goes in with LG5 before making any judgments for certain. She may well pleasantly surprise us all.

Her current image is as genuine as any other image she had back in 2009. If she was "genuine" then, she is "genuine" now.

My doubts may just be the result of the directionless of not being in an album era, and they'll either vanish or be confirmed when we see where Gaga is heading from here. There is nothing that can convince me except LG5 itself.

Show off her vocals and raw talent to gain popularity and to regain her credibility in the eyes if the GP.
