No need to punish, but to be treated as a psychological case." The RSS leader also said that gay marriage should be prohibited as it institutionalises homosexuality. This comes after the private member bill for decriminalising same sex relations by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was defeated in the Lok Sabha. Section 377 of Indian Penal Code terms homosexuality as unnatural and carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in jail. Going by the global trends in this regard, there have been demands within the country to decriminalise homosexuality. The younger generation which makes up 40℅ of this country want change and are so much more aware now. @Daredevilyes this this exactly what i was trying to say. even though there is no correlation that amount of stuff that happens behind the curtains is absolutely disgusting because sex is such a taboo in indian even for straight people no one talks about it. all these things that are happening no one says anything. gay people are looked as caricatures in india such as drag queens in movies and red light districts. but the truth is there are a lot of bi/gay men who are forced to live in lies and even though they can appear normal in front of society it just adds to the stigma, sustains the typical gay stereotype which we know is not true in western society. india just has a lot of catching up to do.
