With the exception of the brilliant ballads on Teenage Dream, I think her ballads are bland and need serious work. I don't understand why Roar was such a hit. I don't think she's the primary writer on most of her big pop hits like her fans would have you believe (they sound like the personality of her co-writers and whenever she's left to her own devices, she always turns out a ballad or something that sounds nothing like her happy pop tunes). Honestly I listen to the album all the way through recently and minus Roar the whole album is a lot more mature and well put together then TD...
