Morphine Prince 109,655 Posted March 17, 2016 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Washington (CNN) - Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid blasted Republicans Thursday for being responsible for the rise of Donald Trump -- tying his Capitol Hill rivals Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan to the GOP front-runner. "They should both put on 'Make America Great Again' hats and stand behind Trump at his next press conference. Be a mini-(Chris) Christie, I guess," Reid said, referencing the New Jersey governor's endorsement of Trump. "The Republican establishment acts bewildered. But they shouldn't. As much as they may try to distance themselves from Trump now, Republican leaders are responsible for his rise," he said. "When Trump calls immigrants rapists and murderers, he's just doing what he's learned from generations of conservatives," McConnell said. "The Republican Party has become the party of Trump." He also spoke about Ted Cruz: "I have to say this about Cruz: He at least has some principles, I don't like what he stands for, but he stands for something," Reid said. "I'm not as turned off by Cruz because he stands for things. Trump stands for nothing." Not to mention, his 'commitment' to ending these loop holes with business practices are downright lies. He'll be a president for a max of 8 years, meaning he'll be returning to the business world after presidency. He's not going to shove a stick in the wheel of his money-making bicycle, he'll give it a shiny new gear shift and use his added influence, or, his family will. The republican politician that said the gop has fallen to being the "stupid" party could not have been more right. They should stand up for conservative issues like checks and balances on government spending, reform free trade, reform on issues that apply to everyone, drop backing archaic social positions that makes people feel we're still getting through the 1970s. They need to focus on 21st century issues when it comes to conservatism: on the economy, on military budget, and win back minorities instead of alienating them. There are Log Cabin Republicans and Republicans from many different minorities, so why alienate even those among them? Stay out of religion, keep your guns but with more secure background checks that check mental health of the buyer and those close of kin, and they need to quit trying to repeal roe vs wade and the recent equal marriage laws. Women want to choose and gays wish to marry, so what? Live and let live, it's a free country and It's the law now, so let us move on. I think there are bigger fish to fry among issues than keeping up these old fights that get conservatives no where. These are part of the reasons I became Independent, because being conservative suddenly got wrapped up in fights I didn't want part of. The Republican Party needs reform if they are going to survive this century and they could start by reforming education in this country because heaven knows we need it more than ever.
