Taylor? What?

so they're buying them to have the rights over that songs??

Yes. If it is fully in Sony hands after this, they don't have to share toyalties with MJ estate anymore for using it in any ways. Nightmare tbh.

I'm not quite sure why people are upset. He purchased music and now his estate is selling it. As a matter of fact Paul McCartney was mad at him for outbidding him for the Beatle's catalog. It's not MJ's personal works that are being sold. He was a brilliant business man. Beats by Dre made him about 600 million. The MJ estate is selling the music catalog for 750 Million and his estate still has a stake (part ownership) of Sony Music Publishing for heavens sake. 🤑

Mm I remember something about this. Michael asked Paul if he was going to bid because he didn't want to pull the rug out from under him (or something along those lines). They were friends-ish, ya know? Paul had his lawyers respond saying that he wasn't so Michael went ahead. Then Paul tried to hit up Yoko Ono to "go halfsies" on it because he was "too cheap to put in a bid on his own, regardless of the fact that he had plenty of money" (in the words of one person).

But yeah, it's just weird. MJ fans tend to be really sentimental, especially after his passing, and he adored this things. It's just sad to see it go and see yet another thing change that Michael wouldn't have wanted :/

You're stinky
