In true Kanye fashion, his latest album The Life of Pablo has received some post-release updates. The Tidal-only release underwent some subtle changes today, most notably to the lyrics of the controversial track “Famous”.

… lyrics in the song’s second verse were changed from “She be Puerto Rican day parade wavin’” to “She in school to be a real estate agent.” Rihanna’s vocals from 1:01 to 1:17 appear to be quieter and have more reverb, and the transition into the chopped-up vocal breakdown beginning at about 1:49 was also slightly altered.

What do you guys think about artists being able to change their album after its release? Will this be a growing trend? Discuss.

It comes off unprofessional to me tbh. Make it and release it. Don't post edit because you don't know how to make it good enough for yourself in the first place.

There's still time to put Brooklyn Nights on ARTPOP is what I'm hearing.

I think it's a fascinating idea actually. I work in a creative field and I always find things I wish I would've done differently.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

Well, many artists look back on their work sometimes and say they don't like it.

I think if streaming becomes the norm in the future artists should update content but make past versions downloadable. I think this is innovative.

Imagine for example Gaga could update or add songs to her past albums, but still keep an old copy for download.

I think this is amazing.

I like the concept, but then I also don't because I'd always want the newest version on my phone and I'd end up with so many songs (I don't stream I only download)

I feel like this just will incentivize an artist to update the same song multiple times and the industry will use every update to make money.

Just write a great song.

If you ever do a remix, do a remix. But a few updates all the time to your music really gets kind of... problematic.

Songs should be classic. Representative of what the artist 100% invented, flaws and all, at the time.

It's a nostalgia thing for me too. When I hear an old song when I'm old come on the radio, I want it to have the same authentic essence it did and sound the same as when it was released.

We already so much re-make/sequel culture in film. I dont want that to become a main thing in the music industry.

It's a really cool idea. They're always updating movies, why not music? I'd love to see what Gaga would rework or update.
