In his blog, he charged that the Government did so via the Government’s investment arms, Temasek Holdings and GIC. Therefore, he has been ordered to pay the highest paid Prime Minister in the world SGD$150000 in damages due to the fact that he simply made a claim about him on his blog, because...why not? Also, he was given multiple chances to resolve this quietly but he had to blow it out of proportion. Besides, he's being made to pay the fine in $100 installments so they're not forcing him into bankruptcy which is much more lenient than what i expected. When you're defaming someone of his standing, $150,000 is too little. It's the message that this sends out to everyone to be careful of what you say with no substantial evidence behind it. Roy was stating that he, and by extension the entire ruling party was corrupt and misappropriated the money, he broke the law and defamed someone.
