For the record, I actually have spoken to Cuban refugees. My Mother lived in Cuba as a child, on an American military base, while her medical and educational experiences in Cuba were strictly American, the educational and medical experiences of her Cuban friends, as communicated to me, by the Cubans themselves were positive.

I don't expect that anecdotal evidence to sway your opinion of course, I'm just sharing my experience so you don't continue to assume that no one you speak to has had life experiences with Cuban refugees.

Unless I'm reading it incorrectly this is saying that in the past Bernie favored the states' right to choose over federal regulation for marriage equality. I don't blame him, marriage equality was once something I thought I wouldn't even see in my lifetime. Leaving it up the states at one point seemed like a good option, compared to having a federal ban on same sex marriage. The way the author of this article is trying to spin this amuses me  Bernie has fought for gay rights for 20+ years, he opposed DADT in the 90s. It wasn't until 2013 that Hilary stopped opposing same sex marriage. So no, there's a reason everyone's shitting on Hilary.

Sanders took a similarly cautious approach to same-sex marriage. In 2006, he took a stand against same-sex marriage in Vermont, stating that he instead endorsed civil unions. Sanders told the Associated Press that he was “comfortable” with civil unions, not full marriage equality. The LGBTQ community can surely forgive Sanders’ less-than-spotless record on gay rights—but that process can only begin once he’s honest about it.
