I'm confused, did people take the dog fashion line seriously?

Sound of Music was obviously the best moment. Probably the defining moment of her career. The only other contender is the VMAs 2009 performance.

HAHA no, that dog fashion line announcement was M. E. S. S. 

people are just being hilarious by voting for it. Sound of music was amazing. I completely agree with you about '09 VMA's being the other career defining moment because it literally was the moment I decided to stan for Gaga. I will never forget watching that performance. I would also add national anthem to career defining moments,  just because it was AMAZING and emotional and I think it solidified her actually talent to the GP.
