Blame Gaga not the producers

I agree with the OP for the most part but I just can't understand why you're always doing this? For EVERY single thread that causes controversy or is polarising among the fanbase you always make a separate contra-thread just to highlight your opinion. You can't just be like the rest of us posting your opinion in the main thread, you need to try and put it front and centre.  I'm sorry but I'm getting very narcissistic vibes from you.

No offense but I think your over-estimating how much is up to Gaga. She is still tied to a record label that pays for promotion and has certan demands and expectations on what gets released

 

unless you own and release under your own label (Like ABBA did) or go under some very special contract where a label agrees to let you make most decisions (which usually also means they dont pay for things like promotion etc) typically no artist has as much say on their work as the public and their fans might perceive

 

Even artists who "write their own songs" always have co-writers and producers within the label that sway the artist within what the label expects

 

Dont act like any album Gaga released is exactly what she wanted.

ARTPOP is one of the best albums of all time in my opinion. I think it was produced well its not to everyone's taste oh well.

He's not her best but no means her worst or bad, he's produced one no.1 and great songs such as born this way, edge of glory, black Jesus amen fashion, applause and do what you want, Gaga chose him for 2 of her lead singles

But id go step further, it is Not up to producers and neither to Gaga - its the record label who is in charge at the end of a day.

gaga wanted the lead to be Aura, and interscope released applause. You can see how different thing would be if she was in charge.

i also believe that songs like MANiCURE/fashion/dope would not even make a cut if she was one to decide. Even applause as we know.

Is understandable that Gaga doesn't have full control because of the reasons you stated. But out of all the mainstream popstars she probably has some of the biggest control of her music. I believe this is the case because she is already a powerful and very successful artist. And she is also someone that is usually not afraid to speak up when it comes to things she doesn't like about the business. It also helps that she is also a musician and can actually make music herself.

I dont doubt Gaga has more control than most pop stars. Being a big name, and having talent to write your own stuff and being versatile and being bold enough to speak all give you leverage.

Ultimately the Label executives are in charge, Artists are still employees under them.

She most definitely did not produce J&D by herself, like not at all. J&D is signature DJWS production if I've ever heard any.

The only song in which Gaga was the main producer is Venus, and she didn't produce that by herself either.

As far as what I know, Gaga put the song together. She basically came up with the structure. But I am pretty sure DJWS made the beats and sounds. So she did not really make the song on her own but she did use DJWS' beats to create an actual song.

The more talent and power/success you have, the more the labels are going to let you get away with things. They won't want to release someone that is basically making them tons of money and someone that can't make music own their own won't be able to have much of a say or involvement in making the songs. So what you say makes sense.
