It's kind of house influenced with something like steel drums? It's hard to explain 5 minutes ago, Metamorphosis said: What Do You Mean is such a pop song to me, though. The simple production, repetitive chorus, and universal message all screams pop. Edit: OH I think I see what you mean. Yeah pop is taking over, versus when EDM was the main trending genre on top 40. Yeah, this conversation is confusing me now, let alone everyone else My point was, Zedd X Gaga's Stache to me is closer to an actual Dance track than your typical pop song that charts that uses a popular dance sound? I tried explaining where the line kind of falls between pop and dance because I don't think Britney's Hold It Against Me or Gaga's Alejandro are dance tracks. Shadow 6,630
Just now, Metamorphosis said: Good question. I actually looked up the biggest hits in 2012, and many were pop hits. It seemed like EDM was dominating for some reason though. When it comes to dance music, it seems to me that it needs a good beat to dance to. With pop, music just needs to be relatable (easy for them to figure out by the first chorus) and catchy (with a hook in mind) to leave you wanting hear it throughout the day, night, week, and/or plus...) I mean, since 2012, how many songs have stood out to you as super different? EDM may not be in, but when done right, it can be catchy and with good lyrics, relatable. And if it has a good beat, wouldn't dance clubs pick up a song like Stache? They even played Til It Happens to You and I never thought they'd play a song like it where people go to dance... MonsterOfSpain 8,318
It's funny because I've been listening to it a lot lately, and it really is an incredible bop I actually wish there would have been some tracks like Stache on ARTPOP, it's what I imagined it would sound like in 2012 and I would die to hear some of the leftovers from the album which where in that line. Ugh I desperately need ARTPOP Act

PinkJelly 1,769
I really hated this song, played it twice when it first surfaced and never since. Same with Brooklyn Nights. Some songs are unreleased for a reason, just sounds so messy imo! If it were reworked and some actual legible lyrics were in there then perhaps? I think the beat was more appealing, would have liked more singing, elaborate lyrics. She sounds like she has all this unreleased material just ready to mold into perfection. I wish our current economy could let artists release more music than your typical albums. Sound greedy, needy, or just hungry for her vocals with sexy beats? Do your own research. Its a bit too intense for UK taste Imo if the sounds were a bit softer and more chilled and less robotic it would have hit potential. I like it but I haven't come across songs sounding similar to this in our charts for at least 3 years. I'm just being honest but personally I like it. This is a bit too intense everywhere lol EDM is dying on the charts but I really want Gaga to record some tropical-house track to bop while we wait for ha new album
lavenderblondee 3,695
I don't think it would of done well at all. But, Stache was a smash in my heart, so that's all that matters. It is such a fun song. I really enjoy Zedds beats.
