Especially with the first image, I was so hyped when it was released, I thought the album was going to be all natural and stripped back maybe, or at least that the artwork would have a theme of that kind of photography (like how the other albums had one consistent aesthetic), and I was so pissed that none of these actually featured in the album booklet! And I especially thought that the visor thing she's wearing might have been a main feature of the album, but it was actually just random and had nothing to do with it Yeah and I was expecting the tech chair to be infused in a performance but it was only seen in a good morning america interview

I liked the songs on the album, but the era was just so disappointing. The themes weren't coherent and the promotion was a let-down.
Chromatislaps 34,851
I think the album should have been called "Adrenaline of Fame" or just "Adrenaline", would have made more sense regarding the sound and the themes of the songs.

Instead of putting the soup can art to the canvas, she puts the canvas onto the soup can. Best example - ARTPOP's artwork. It's a CD with a booklet. On it you have the Gaga statue by Koons, the Birth of Venus by Botticelli, and Apollo and Daphne by Bernini. It's so literal that the forums reaction/confusion is hilarious. Lyrically - it's her poetic journey as she goes through well-known topics for her, giving them her own personal view - FAME FAME FAME, love, sex, drugs, travelling, the connection with the fans, the relation with the media, rape, FASHION FASHION FAHSION. It's pretty much in the vein of The Fame but it has that see what's underneath twist. Musically - it's a night at the club, a celebration of expression and passion, her pain exploding into electronic synths and beats. Heavy, energising, uplifiting, acidic. She's used many other words to describe it. But it's all about having a blast. While the decay is present if you follow the tracklist I don't think it's heavily emphasised. But realistically, ARTPOP is the album during which Gaga truly decayed, quite ironic! Finally someone understands!! "My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..." Tbh quite a few people here know this, but I guess most of us aren't as vocal as we used to be/or never were to begin with. There are newcomers, some of which are preachy as f*ck about what the album should be, but there are also the vocal haters who bash it at every opportunity. So these 2 groups get the biggest attention, whereas in reality there are 2 much bigger but quiet groups - those who understand it, and became fascinated by the passion exhibited by it, and those who simply see it as an inferior project compared to Gags' earlier discography and simply state it's a fine one, not a great one, and the era could've gone better but it's all history now. It's okay to dislike it, and agree to disagree. If only we didn't have the noisy ones...

I've also thought of alternative names for the project since I even think Gaga was unsure why is she naming it that way and what's behind it (at first she didn't know) (hence the anything) She has talked about it as the acid-making record, or it's acidic effects, so as lame as it sounds AcidPop would have sounded less cringey and more straightforward and clear for the audience. ARTPOP as much as I love the word itself, sets expectations too high without the context she used and makes her seem high-brow and pretentious. She could've gone with sth like Passion as a name as well. Or Instincts. I mean something that could easily explain her rage/fury, passion and pain about creation and inspiration. Cause while she explores those themes (and has done so on TF and TFM as well) - it's literally all in her head. ARTPOP is more of a process or a mean/channel of delivery rather than a final concept/product. What we got was simply her triumph of realising what's she's doing in the form of party music...
