#1 She needs to breathe after holding a 10-second note

#2 These notes are usually sung in emotional tones, it would be really weird for her to go on straight away after belting a high note into the next line. A pause is appropriate in the sense that the few seconds of silence allow the audience to delve in the music and absorb the emotions fully.

I listened to the Speechless performance and i found out that she was singing so effortlessly back then...and now every higher note is hard to reach...and i must agree on what you said because i've noticed that too and it kind of makes me sad.

I prefer her performances now than Speechless back in 2010. The high notes in Speechless just aren't as powerful as the ones she's been doing recently. Vocally, Gaga is much much better now in my opinion.

I'm a singer. And I hate to inform you that breathing is not only necessary for singing but also for like... living. Every singer does it to some extent but some tend to move their heads away from their microphones so it is less audible. When it comes to your voice live, you literally CAN'T cheat unless you use Auto-Tune live. Which leaves you with something messy like this:

Whispering

This is called taking a breath, and that's not a trick...that's a normal function that goes along with singing.

Matter of fact the thing some of y'all describe as her being able to hit high notes more "effortlessly" was Gaga probably artifcially trying to lighten her tone to resemble that of a soprano, when she's actually a natural mezzo-soprano with an extensive lower register. She stopped singing like that because it's very straining and unnatural to her voice and might result in vocal nodules and irreperable damage. Gaga's voice is probably the healthiest and least damaged out of all voices currently out in the industry, and she is incredibly aware of her vocal capabilities and limitations.

I agree with you and that's why I don't like her performance at the Oscars at all.

I feel she actually did a better job performing that song at billboard

shes amazing when she sings kind of powerful vocals... But when she really tests her limits shes always stopping every 10 seconds

Gaga is the first openly gay man to take a breath while singing.

Does it really matter? She's still a really ****ing phenomenal singer. I saw her at the Monster Ball, BTWB and ArtRave and her vocals give me goosebumps every single time. + those notes she hits every single time when she performs TIHTY? She's still got it
