Why wasn't Beyonce's Run The World a hit in the US?

From the wiki page, I saw that it only peaked at 29 in the Hot 100 :toofunny:. But from what I remembered, it was pretty big in Asia! It peaked at no. 6 in Japan and no. 2 in Korea, and western songs don't even usually chart in the top 10 of these countries... From where I live, I also saw plenty of adverts of this song and music video on my tv (I think it was for 4), and there was a parody video that was also a pretty big hit, at least based on where I live..

So why didn't it become a mega hit in the US or even in the UK though, considering it was the lead single of her highly successful album?

But not in Asia? That's weird...considering I heard of Gaga even before of Beyonce....

run the world was never played on the radio in UK really it was just constant Adele and gaga til the end of 2012. Its a bit too harsh sounding for radio but that's why I like it

Because the sample it uses had been happening a year earlier.

I always thought it was a sure-fire hit. It was advertised a lot here. The hook and message was pretty 'revolutionary' for where I live. Guess feminism hadn't reached here yet...

It's a boring-ass song, don't make everything about social injustice... some of ya'll :wtf:

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

It's not that much of a good song.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

feminism was big in the UK but through less bombastic sounding songs. Songs like the boy does nothing by alesha Dixon were big. I think the sound of the song was a bit too ott for uk taste I like it tho
