Trendy "Thermomix" machine explodes, leaves woman with 2nd degree burns

Danika Jones was cooking pasta in her Thermomix, an all-in-one kitchen aid, earlier this year when the lid flew off, splashing her with scalding hot liquid.

“I had popped the pasta sauce ingredients in the Thermomix using the same recipe I’ve used every week since I bought the machine more than two years ago,” she said.

“Towards the end of the process, it was pureeing the sauce when it started making a funny noise and vibrating.”

“I walked over to turn it off and as I did that, it just exploded – the lid blew off and hot liquid went everywhere, all over me. The pain was intense.”

Jones was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was treated for second degree burns to her chest, stomach and arms.

I don't get it why people buy these stupid gadgets. Aren't pans and pots more than enough? You don't need a all-in-one kitchen aid in order to boil some water and throw some pasta in it.

You can do the same with a pot and a spoon, but you want to be so modern and have your kitchen full of robots, so that's what you get. Sad btw I hope the company pays her a lotta money

I barely trust my ****ing oven, let alone a machine with like ten different compartments doing **** simultaneously.

I hope the manufacturer coughs up some money for what ever medical care she needs, cosmetic or otherwise.
