Xoxo Adriana 15,040
This is honestly such a beautiful film...thought on the video? This film is a part of her appearance on V99 behind the scenes and interview.
Tycho 3,694
It's the first video I downloaded and watched in 4K, the detail of it is beautiful and I love the creative approach they took in making it. I thought it was a fascinating insight on art culture and her personal opinions. I hope my filmmaking takes to me to a set like this, pure creatives just doing what they do best

It sounds extreme and let's be honest, her parents wouldn't let her live in a box, but that is how passionate she is about creating art. I know people who make this comment about making a living with their artistic pursuits. They feel like they have to have it to live. Some grow out of it, by getting regular jobs and doing their art as a hobby, but some end up having bad situations in their life due to not having the ability to put their art as a hobby. People are different, some really are this intent on following their passion no matter what. I guess i just cant wrap my head around the idea of living solely for your own art. Its sort of a stubborn and immature way of thinking. The truth is, the vast majority of artists wont be able to make a living making art. The rational think to do is try to make it work for x amount of time and then get a job that you like, though you may not love, that pays the bills. I think most people would prefer to have a creative career as opposed to a typical job. Even the people who arent "artists". I wish i could make music for a living, direct films, or act but i wasnt born as a gifted super creative artist. These careers are just as "hard" as any other job but there is something supremely satisfying about using your creativity. Doing so is fun and interesting while being a lot of work at the same time. But there is so much more to life than just your art. There are relationships, vacations, food, conversations, other people's art, ect.

But there is so much more to life than just your art. There are relationships, vacations, food, conversations, other people's art, ect. You can't wrap your head around it because you weren't born that way, built that way. People who were have felt a certain calling from an early age. They have just always known. The majority of artists won't be able to make a living making art, but they learn to either do it more as a hobby or they figure out a way to use it in a career. Then there are some who live in closets (and I know people who have done this) or work in a day job and do their art at night for years and years. Is it rational to keep trying? Probably not, but people who are driven in that way feel that they have no other choice. They can't be happy or whole if they aren't doing what they believe they were born to do. To many artists, there isn't more to life than their art. If they don't have that, then nothing else makes sense. You think "logically" and are still trying to figure out what you want to do in life. Others think with an artistic brain and have always known what they want to do!

I don't know, I'm not an artistic type really...not in that way. I do know people like that though, individuals that know exactly what they have to be doing in life. It is in their blood. It's not even about "being happy", it is about feeling whole. They don't feel like they are themselves if they aren't pursuing a certain artistic life. If they couldn't do it, they couldn't live. These types have been around forever. Think about the starving artists from centuries ago...all the artists who died without a home, a family or a nickel to their name. They weren't famous and their art didn't sell until after they died. So, why did they give their whole life for their art? They didn't have a choice. So, why did they give their whole life for their art? They didn't have a choice. Ive never known someone like this so I guess this personality type never seemed real to me. I remember during the ARTPOP era, Gaga said in numerous interviews that she hears and sees things that other people don't notice and it used to (and sometimes still does) make her feel sick. I originally thought she meant that she has hallucinations. But, I think she is just making connections and visualizing/hearing creative ideas in correspondence with the world around her. Maybe all artistic people view the world in the same sort of way and if they don't create from these sources of inspiration, that are invisible to the rest of us, they feel empty and maybe even guilty, like they are betraying their gift. Its very interesting. I just wish I could get inside someone's artistic mind for a few day and see what it is like. I get upset and frustrated when I can't understand someone else's perspective because I don't like feeling like I can't relate to someone. I'm so curious about what being an artist feels like. Its hard for me to buy into the concept of an artist being almost like a different breed of humanity because the way that they supposedly think is so foreign to me. My first instinct is to assume that these people just want to be seen as different and special but they are really just like everyone else.
